Civic service: the OSE approved once again for 3 years!

A civic service operator since 2015, the OSE is fully committed to this essential program for social cohesion and openness to others. We are very proud that the Civic Service Agency has renewed its accreditation for the period 2022-2024. Civic service allows young people aged 18 to 25 (up to 30 for young people with disabilities), from all walks of life, to carry out a mission of general interest for six months to a year with an association, an NGO or a community, in France or abroad.

A great partnership between the MAS (Facility for heavily disabled people) and the Philharmonie de Paris

Once a month, people accompanied by the MAS enjoy taking part in a musical workshop at the Philharmonie de Paris.

Discovering the sounds, feeling the music, expressing yourself… These workshops, led by disability specialists, facilitate communication and are adapted to everyone’s needs. Suspended during the health crisis, the workshops started again at the end of 2021 much to the participants’ delight. Precious moments of discovery and sharing for all!

A plaque in honor of Flore and Georges Loinger

A plaque in memory of Flore and Georges Loinger was unveiled on February 16 on the facade of the building where they lived on rue du Ranelagh in Paris. This beautiful ceremony took place in the presence of Francis Szpiner, Mayor of the 16th arrondissement, Laurence Patrice, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of memory and the fighting heroes, Serge Klarsfeld, historian, Haïm Korsia, Chief Rabbi of France, Jean-François Guthmann, president of the OSE, and Katy Hazan, historian of the OSE. Huge figures of the Resistance, members of the OSE and the Bourgogne and Garel networks, Flore and Georges Loinger participated in the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children during the Second World War. Exceptional personalities whose battles will be remembered, for the present and for the future.

Successful rescue operation for the Zhitomir children’s home in Ukraine!

Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the OSE has contributed to the rescue of 60 children from the Zhitomir Children’s Home, with which it has been a partner since 2009. After escaping the shellings, the children and the staff of the House, accompanied by the chief rabbi of Jitomir Shlomo Wilhelm, passed through Romania, before joining Israel to find refuge there. The children were welcomed upon their arrival by Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennet and are now being cared for by the Israeli authorities.

A big thank you to our generous donors who contributed to the success of this operation thanks to a great outpouring of solidarity! Alongside the main French Jewish organizations, the OSE remains mobilized to meet the most urgent needs of Ukrainian refugees.
